day thirty -
whatever tickles your fancyI decided to end today with a long ramble about my current favorite subject... nuclear physics!

No... wait... I mean The Beatles... yeah... that.
It’s been about five months since I started listening to The Beatles and I feel now is the time to reflect. Since that slow beginning back in September I’ve become submerged in Beatle-related goodness. I’ve heard the music (including some of their post-Beatle work), I’ve seen the films (all but
Let It Be), I’ve read the books (well I’ve read part of
a book), and I’ve poured over countless photos, videos, and random Internet articles. In short I’ve done the exact same obsessive dive into a fannish thing that I’ve always done.
And yet something feels different this time around. This doesn’t feel like another case of “oh ho~ look at Clarissa and her crazy obsessive thing… she’ll be over that in six months” oh no... this feels like long-term commitment.
The thing is… I really wish I had caught on to this sooner.
I mean, I knew their music before this! Who hasn’t heard
Hey Jude or
Let It Be or
She Loves You or something they’ve done? Hell they’re all over commercials and movies… I don’t know how many times I thought “wait that was
them?” while listening through their catalog for the first time. If I already knew the music I now love then why was so resistant then? I honestly wish I knew. Maybe it was because I was trying to be a snob and bucked them for being all ‘OMG BEST THING EVER” for so many people, but the thing is… they really do kind of deserve it!
Maybe I was won over by personality in the end. I didn’t really give them a second though till I random came across
Help! on TV. Hell the only ones I could pick out from the moptopped lineup were Ringo and Paul and that’s only because a.) how the hell can you not know Ringo? and b.) Paul is
the one that looks kind of girly left-handed, duh. It really was their silly nature and charm that won me over to at least giving the music a fair shake.
When I first dipped my toes into the Beatle waters my favorites were as follows:
1. John
2. Ringo
3. Paul
4. George
And now my favorites list looks something like this:
Dhani1. John
1. George
1. Paul
1. Ringo
Also for fun my favorite song from each album!
